Laura Jacobus

Laura has been one of BeBody founder Kathryn Jourav's yoga teachers and an inspiration for her excellence, compassion and strength. "She is friendly, interesting and lets me believe that at 63 you can look strong, lean, and young."  KJ has so much respect for Laura's message in her classes and in her life, “Never be afraid to leave your old Self to make way for the new. Change allows for growth. The new you is infinitely wiser than the old. At 63 years old I’ve learned to accept change as a gift of learning. Surrounding myself with the people and things that I love keeps me joyful and young at heart. We are what we think."

What is your Superpower?
I am very resourceful and strong willed! Actions for the sake of good keep us strong..knowing that our actions come from a higher place.

What is your Kryptonite?
Kryptonite is always emotional pain for loved ones. Pain is something to overcome and repair, but it distracts us from our superpowers.

Who would you like to have lunch with, alive or departed?
I am drawn towards the sages who passed as they lived for teaching us to live a more spirit driven life - Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda,  Mother Theresa, or Buddha.

What motivates you to move?
Motivation comes from my belief that a body in motion stays in motion!  My call to action for myself is for my loved ones, or anyone who needs assistance. Actions speak louder than words.

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Be aware of your words and how they produce energies.

What do you want to change in the world?
The world needs to focus on the things that make us the same instead of why we are different.  We should work towards a common goal of kindness towards each other.

Your favorite movie or book?
Bhagavad Gita is my favorite book because it is a book about living a life dedicated to love and Lord. It beautifully reflects the honoring of each of our higher selfs within.

What skill would you still like to master?
I would love to master a form of intuition that sees beyond the form  I’d love to “see” energy.

What tip would you share with us that keeps you being who you are?
Believe in your visions of why you were put on this earth, where and who you learned from, and understand that you are a teacher as well, through your words, deeds and actions.
